I chose to answer number one and number five, number one asks what exactly were the roles of the women in the 1950s and how are they different from Katherine Watsons eyes?
The roles of women in the 1950s were portrayed as a different view in Katherine Watsons eyes, society believed that the women of the 1950s were to be able to have a education yet, marry, have children take care of those kids along with house and have dinner on the table by a certain time ( mainly before their husband made it home). As of Katherine Watsons eyes in this opinion of women of the 1950s were different, Katherine Watson believed that is not always the Ladies job to go to school, have a education and be able take care of family and house work.
Number five asks do you think that Betty was happy being married to Spencer, and note to self that her mother did not want to betty staying the night at her place but yet to go home. Why?
I believe that Betty was not happy at all with being married to Spencer nor, was Betty ready to take on the challenges of marriage and being a house wife. She didn't think it was right for Spencer to be able to leave every second he had and leave her. Her mother didn't believe that Betty had a right to sleep at her mothers house but yet to take care of Betty's own house and wait for spencer at home like a good wife should.
In conclusion yes the females role in the 1950s were different from now and Betty was not too happy with Spencer and her marriage.
I agree totally. Women now days have the opportunity to live a much more balanced life than women in the 50's. I also believe that Betty was unhappy being married to Spencer.
